At this moment we are camped in Joshua Tree in the Mohave desert, California. We have been camping (for free!) for 10 days straight, and we are loving it. We are very dirty but we don't mind it. There is something very good about being outside all the time, seeing natural shapes, light and rhythms, seeing more directly the planet that made you.
Joshua tree is a majestic and mystical place. Huge mountains encompass gargantuan bowl-valleys populated by all kinds of animals (desert bighorn sheep, mountain lions, jackrabbits, lizards, birds of prey) and plants (Joshua trees, Yucca, many kinds of cacti, and so on) and cool bubbling bulbous rock formations. We are going to stay here for the rest of the week. It costs $15 a night to camp here.
