We did a lot yesterday, so today we are going to chill out under our shade structure and practice the fine art of Doing Nothing. It's an important and greatly under-appreciated skill. Nothing is a magical thing, and many good things arise spontaneously from it.
Yesterday we had a grand adventure. We'd heard from our friend Marianne that there was a rare bloom happening "RIGHT NOW" in the Anza-Borrego desert. So we got up early to beat the intense heat and drove 2 or 3 hours past the pungent Salton Sea (I don't recommend a visit to the malodorous place) and fragrant tangerine orchards into the mountains.
The desert was gorgeous. Everywhere you looked, something was flowering in a kaleidoscope of desert colors - yellows, whites, purples and oranges, pinks - on the ocotillos, the barrel cacti, the cholla cacti, the prickly pears. Check out the pics below:
